WELDING GAS MIXTURES

Argon CO2 Mix

On weld quality, appearance and reducing post-weld clean up, welding gas mixtures of between 75 – 95 percent Argon and 5 – 25 percent CO2 may be the best option.
Improved Weld Quality: Shielding gas protects the weld from contamination, leading to stronger, cleaner, and more consistent welds.
Reduced Rework: By minimizing weld defects, shielding gas helps to reduce the need for rework and repair.
Enhanced Aesthetics: A protected weld pool allows for smoother bead formation and a cleaner overall weld appearance.

WELDING GAS MIXTURES

DSW offers high-grade welding gases and gas mixtures, which are ideal for MIG/MAG and TIG welding applications.
Our flexible supply options range from individual cylinders (10, 30, and 47 litres) to packs and liquid for every business size.

We also offer a series of WELDING GAS MIXTURES Ar, and oxygen (O2) blends commonly used for conventional and pulsed spray transfer on clean (little to no scale or residual oil), plain carbon, and stainless steel. These blends offer 1, 2, or 5% oxygen and provide good arc stability and low levels of spatter and fume. Higher oxygen levels will also increase puddle fluidity, which may make out-of-position welding more difficult.

GAS MIXTURES for Welding

argon (Ar) and carbon dioxide (CO2) blends are versatile for welding carbon, low-alloy, and some stainless steels.
By increasing the CO2 content, you can increase weld penetration and bead-wetting characteristics; however, increased splattering may also occur.
Ar and CO2 blends can be used to join a wide range of material thicknesses using a variety of metal transfer modes.

What are the three types of welding gas?

The three main types of gas welding are TIG, MAG, and MIG.
TIG Welding. Tungsten Inert Gas (or TIG) uses inert TIG welding shielding gas similar to MIG welding mentioned later. …

MAG welding

Metal Active Gas (MAG) uses active gas mixtures to create a shielding gas that works well with welding steel. Usually, these gasses are a mixture of argon, CO2, and oxygen.

MIG welding

Metal inert gas (or MIG) uses only inert MIG welding gas mixtures such as argon and helium for its shielding gas.
This type of welding is used on aluminium and other non-ferrous metals. At DSW Gas, we specialize in MIG welding gas that includes a 5% to 20% mix of Argon/ CO2.

Oxyacetylene Welding Gas

Oxygen is an inert gas that does not support combustion. Not only is oxygen air but 100% pure oxygen gas bottles are considered indispensable materials in welding applications.
It can be blended with Acetylene gas for Oxyacetylene welding.
When mixed correctly, Oxyacetylene welding provides more precise welds with superior finishes.

Types of Shielding Gases:

  • Inert Gases: These are noble gases like helium and argon. They are chemically inactive and don’t react with the molten metal.
  • Semi-inert Gases: These include gases like carbon dioxide or oxygen used in small quantities. While not entirely inert, they can be beneficial for specific welding applications.

Choosing the Right Shielding Gas:

The selection of the appropriate shielding gas depends on several factors, including:

  • Material being welded: Different metals require different shielding gases for optimal results.
  • Welding process: The specific welding method (e.g., MIG welding, TIG welding) can influence gas selection.
  • Desired weld properties: The gas can be chosen to achieve specific characteristics like deeper penetration or smoother bead profile.
