LOX Cryogenic Tank | Liquid Oxygen Bulk Storage Solution
DSW manufactures high-performance LOX cryogenic tanks designed
for the safe storage and continuous supply of liquid oxygen (LOX).
Our liquid oxygen bulk tanks are widely used in industrial gas plants,
hospitals, steel manufacturing, aerospace, and energy sectors where reliability,
safety, and efficiency are critical.
Engineered in compliance with international pressure vessel standards, BluNet LOX tanks
provide long-term cryogenic storage with minimal evaporation loss and stable oxygen purity.

Notes on Chart Parameters:
- Capacity: in cubic meters (m³) of LOX; typical tanks range 5–50 m³, with larger sizes customizable.
- Dimensions: outside diameter and height are approximate; may vary by design and manufacturer.
- Design Pressure: commonly 0.8–1.6 MPa; higher pressures available on request.
- Empty Weight: depends on capacity, insulation, and optional accessories.
- Customization: dimensions, pressure, and supports can be tailored to site requirements.
What Is a LOX Cryogenic Tank?
A LOX cryogenic tank is a vacuum-insulated pressure vessel specifically
designed to store oxygen in liquid form at extremely low temperatures,
approximately -183°C.
Liquid oxygen allows significantly higher storage density compared to gaseous oxygen,
making LOX tanks the preferred solution for large-volume oxygen supply systems.
DSW liquid oxygen tanks feature a double-wall structure,
consisting of a stainless steel inner vessel and a carbon steel outer vessel.
The annular space is evacuated and insulated to minimise heat transfer and reduce
oxygen boil-off.
Design and Construction
Double-Wall Vessel Structure
LOX tanks feature a robust double-wall design:
- Inner vessel: Manufactured from cryogenic-grade stainless steel, specifically cleaned for oxygen service.
- Outer vessel: Carbon steel shell providing mechanical strength and environmental protection.
High-Vacuum Insulation System
The annular space between the inner and outer vessels is evacuated to a high vacuum and filled with multi-layer insulation (MLI) or equivalent high-efficiency insulating materials. This design:
- Minimises heat ingress
- Reduces liquid oxygen boil-off
- Maintains stable internal pressure
Tank Configurations
- Vertical LOX cryogenic tanks (most common for fixed installations)
- Horizontal LOX tanks (available for site-specific layouts)
Each LOX bulk tank is manufactured under strict quality control procedures,
ensuring long service life and stable operation even under demanding conditions.
Applications
DSW LOX bulk tanks are used across a wide range of industries:
- Industrial Gas Supply: Steelmaking, metal fabrication, cutting, and welding
- Medical & Healthcare: Central oxygen supply systems for hospitals
- Energy & Power: Oxygen-enriched combustion processes
- Aerospace & Defense: Oxidiser storage for propulsion systems
- Chemical Processing: Oxidation reactions and process enhancement
