What is an oxygen tank regulator?
An oxygen tank regulator is a medical device for oxygen or medical air inhalation of first-aid and hypoxic patients in the hospital, including an oxygen and medical air flowmeter.
It mainly consists of a gas pressure gauge, pressure reducer, safety valve, flow tube, flow control valve, humidification bottle, and other components.
How to use an Oxygen Regulator
Step 1: Verify that the selected oxygen tank regulator is the appropriate model capable of delivering the prescribed flow rate for the patient.
Step 2: Ensure that the designated medical gas cylinder is suitable for use and confirm that the flow selector on top of the cylinder is set to zero.
Step 3: Securely insert the regulator into the cylinder valve until a distinct clicking sound indicates a proper connection. Then, proceed by attaching the tubing to the regulator.
Step 4: Rotate the dial selector to Adjust the regulator to the prescribed flow rate, ensuring precise alignment with the required oxygen delivery level.
Step 5: Gradually activate the cylinder by rotating the handwheel in an anticlockwise direction until it reaches a complete stop, enabling the oxygen flow to commence.
Step 6: If the need arises to detach the regulator, employ an anticlockwise pushing and turning motion to disengage it from the cylinder. Subsequently, repeat steps 1 to 5 when reattaching the regulator.
